It is an honour and privilege to subscribe this message to the Web Site of the ‘Lions Sight First Hospital’ at Hendala, a Magnanimous gesture of Past District Governor Lion Dr Rohan Perera whose brain child was this far sighted project.

Lions Club of Hendala has been the live shadow of PDG Lion Dr Rohan to make this project a reality .Their innumerous support and cooperation in finding a suitable site for the Hospital, generating funds from the inception of this project and further planning to raise another 10million to establish a trust fund initiated by PMCC Lion Mohan de Silva is indeed a great humanitarian achievement of the Lions.

Apart from the assistance from Hendala, the Clubs in the District 306B from 2003 to 2005 have given their share towards this project and am confident that they would continue to support further in the years to come for the continuance of this Hospital to restore Sight to the large number of less fortunate visually impaired, to see this world better.

Helen Keller acclaimed as the symbol of courage pointed Lions in a direction that would change the lives of a million. She challenged the Lions to become ‘Knights of the Blind’. This extraordinary individual became the inspiration for millions of Lions who are engaged in carrying out Sight First programmes throughout the world.

As the District Governor of District 306B1, SriLanka for 2005/2006 I make this special appeal to the global Lions family and philanthropists and specially the Sri Lankans living all over the world to support this worthy cause.
